The founder of a silk factory, Kentaro katakura, first felt the need for education for low-age employees to set up the Katakura public junior school in 1917, the trail of which was handed over from Katakura silk in Kawagishi village in 1935, with the village decided to celebrate by planting 300 stocks of azalea to order to a company located in Saitama, with it misunderstanding that that Katayama foundation wouldn't order that small order to deliver three car-loads of it to the village to cause commotion in the whole village; it couldn't really return those, with its young men's association or other villagers planting them for several days. For this misunderstanding, 30 sorts and 30,000 stocks of azalea became known as the best in Central Japan. In May the azalea fest is held with atomosphere within the park bustling. In 2007, it was recognized as the legacy of contemporary industrializaion.
