Mr. Yoshikazu Tanaka who works at the pasture together with his wife. Mr. Tanaka, who says “he has worked at various pastures nationwide but loves the nature of Nagano pasture most” has talked about the daily life of a dairy farmer and the attractiveness of Nagato pasture’s nature for us.

The work at cow stalls starts at 3:30AM in the morning, while the sky is still dark.

My work starts when the sky is still dark. The work at cow stalls starts at 3:30AM and I will work until 8:00AM, then take breakfast, and start to work on tasks for the morning at 9:30AM. The main job for the morning is milking, and cleaning the cows both being bred or in free stalls; I will again start milking in the afternoon.

I love the time when I am on the tractor, feeling summer grasses.

The time I love most is when I am riding a machine. During summer time, there are summer grasses and I love the time to ride a tractor on them. The time to be on a tractor while feeling the great nature seen from Nagato pasture is wonderful indeed.

The landscape I think is good though I have seen it many times.

I have been employed here for about 10 years; the reason why I have been able to continue my work of course is that I just love the weather here, and cows, sensing a lot of attractiveness pertaining to it. In the morning, you can see the “sea” of cloud right in front of you. And the mountains. Thus the landscape I’ve repeatedly seen still remains “a good one” for me.

Doing it by myself is fun, the best charm.

Though this place may be a bit inconvenient especially when compared to cities, my children are growing up relaxed, freely, and without any problems. The best charm of living here is its calmness, and beautiful stars at night, which cannot be replaced by anything. When the sky is clear, you can see Alpines, or Mt. Asama, the location that again cannot be replaced by anything. Attractiveness…: doing it by myself is fun indeed.
