Ms. Keiko Yamada in Chino Omotenashi team. Also working hard as a Kiyari artist of Kiyari preservation group in Mibashira festival. She has talked about her daily life as a member of Chino Omotenashi team, how she became a Kiyari artist in Mibashira festival which has been originally for men for us.

Warm connection of people appreciated.

While I have been married to live in Chino for 30 years, people around me have been very warm. I love talking and cheering up people, too. Sometimes I accost them for myself; they also love talking to accost me for themselves. I’ve appreciated such warm connection between people.

I love people very much.
I love to see people appreciate what I do.

I love people very much and as a member of Chino Omotenashi team with local colleagues engage in activities to make and hand out Kanten (jelly-like Japanese food), a specialty product in the region, or else. I feel very happy for myself when I provide the best Omotenashi to visitors to make them feel glad.

A place to enjoy nature throughout all the 4 seasons.

Tateshina is a place you can enjoy its nature throughout all the 4 seasons. I was moved, when I got married to come here first, by the highland environment cool and comfortable even during the summer time. In fall, the colors of leaves change to beautiful red or yellow; in winter you can take an outside bath watching the scenery around, relaxed. I think it is a wonderful environment where you can sense all the 4 seasons of Japan.

At the festival I love most, working hard as Kiyori artist.

This region has a festival called Mibashira held every 7 years. Though I love festivals very much, I was told that since Mibashira was one for men, only men would be able to participate. But I was desperate to join it to find out, while thinking on the way to do so, there was a role named “Kiyari”. By this, I learned how to sing Kiyari first in 1988. Since then I’ve taken part in Mibashira for 4 times (I was desperate, indeed). What I am good at is to empower people; I’ll continue doing my best!
